SCHOLARSHIP TOURNAMENT SPECIAL BURSARY APPLICATION:
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association will not be hosting the various Scholarship Tournaments this season. However, the special bursaries will be awarded to deserving players so they are not disadvantaged because of the current circumstances.
To be eligible to apply, players must be meet the criteria set out below:
“C” league Scholarship Tournaments:
(Fraser Valley, Lions Gate Jim Fryer Memorial, and Joe Morellato Scholarship Tournaments)
- 17 years old as of December 31, 2020;
- Rostered on a recreational “C” team within the PCAHA “C” League.
U18 “A” Scholarship Tournament:
- 17 years old as of December 31, 2020;
- Registered on an integrated “A” team with a PCAHA member association;
- Scholastic Ability Requirement - A player must have attained a minimum C+ grade
average in the most recent school reporting period. A C+ average is defined as a minimum 2.50 Grade Point Average based on a 4.00 grade point scale, with A=4, B=3, C+=21/2, C=2, C-=11/2, D or I=1, E or F=0.
U21 Scholarship Tournament:
- 20 years old as of December 31, 2020, and registered on a U21 team;
- Registered on an integrated U21 “A” or “C” team with a PCAHA member association.
Female U18 Scholarship Tournament:
- 17 years old as of December 31, 2020;
- registered on a team in the PCAHA Female U18 division.
Note: please refer to the separate requirements from the Female Committee.
Requirements:
1. Letter detailing what hockey means to you. How has it helped you in life? (approx. 500 words).
2. A reference letter from your coach supporting your commitment and sportsmanship on and off the ice that has helped the team.
3. Sportsmanship Requirement - Any player having incurred a Match Penalty or Gross Misconduct during the current season shall be ineligible for participation. In addition, players may be disqualified for excessive penalty minutes upon review of their penalty record.
