The CMHA Board wanted to remind all CMHA families of the following information we believe is important to the upcoming season.

DRESS CODE POLICY

Set player attire for game days assists in the mental preparation for the game. Adherence to a Dress Code reflects the player’s respect and pride towards his/her Association, teammates, and coaches.

OFF ICE (Off Ice Dress code is optional for “C” teams):

  1. All team members will dress in the same fashion at each event.
  2. For pre-game attire, teams must wear:
    1. dark slacks (no denim), dress shirt, tie, dress shoes and team jacket approved by CMHA board and supplied by CMHA selected vendor.
  3. Coaches must wear dress pants (no denim), dress shirt, tie, dress shoes and team jacket approved by CMHA board and supplied by CMHA selected vendor.
  4. Team officials and players must not wear hats.

ON ICE (Games):

Rep:

  1. All players must wear black helmets.
  2. All players must wear black gloves.
  3. All players must wear game socks approved by CMHA board and supplied by CMHA selected vendor.
  4. All players must wear pant shells approved by CMHA board and supplied by CMHA selected vendor.
  5. No other coloured helmet or gloves other than those stated in Section 5.2.5.2 article 2 are permitted.
  6. Goalies wearing molded helmets may wear black, white, or designed helmets.  If a Goalie wears a traditional player helmet it must be black.

 Recreational (House):

  1. All players must wear game socks approved by CMHA board and supplied by CMHA selected vendor.
  2. All players must wear solid black hockey pants.

In the 2021 / 2022 Hockey Season CMHA Board removed the phoenix red helmet and glove option and made it black helmets and gloves only.

Q: Why the change in policy?

A: CMHA Rep Teams travel to other communities on a regular basis to compete.  While doing this they are representing the Chilliwack community and CMHA.  It is important that these teams wear a consistent uniform which is recognizable, professional and one which all players can be proud to wear.  It is also important that no matter which Rep team you are on it is consistent with all the CMHA Rep Teams travelling throughout BC.

Q: Does this apply to Recreational (House) players?

A: The Policy on gloves and helmets is only mandatory for CMHA Rep players but we welcome all players in CMHA to purchase Black helmets and gloves.  Every player is an important part of the CMHA identity and we would invite everyone to purchase black helmets and gloves.  We also understand that some players chose to play recreational hockey as a second sport or for reasons other than those who commit to Rep Hockey.  For those reasons we decided that we can not expect those Recreational (House) players to follow the gloves and helmet policy.

Thanks you,

CMHA
